3/21/2024 0 Comments Coinbase google authenticatorI would recommend hardware 2FA no exceptions. Google Authenticator doesn’t fully protect you. How come Coinbase doesn’t recommend or make it clear you not keep your crypto on the exchange when you create an account? It’s the main purpose! It’s like here - by this asset but lock it up and never do anything with it. The point of an exchange is to have funds on there to exchange! That’s like saying don’t keep your shares on the stock market. And believe me, I used to read these hack stories and find them hard to believe, but let me tell you it becomes very easy to believe when it happens to you.Īnd while I think the advice you give is really good, step back and think about a few things…įirst and foremost - it’s commonly said “don’t keep your crypto on the exchange.” Ok true that’s the safe thing to do. No i wasn’t notified about the whitelist being disabled and wasn’t notified about attempted login attempts. If you need further advice or have questions, feel free to ask. These are the most basic security measures and tbh more than enough to protect your account and coins unless you do something very very wrong. You enter 1 or more addresses on CB (that belong to you) and even if someone "hacks" you A.K.A you do some big mistake, he can't send coins to other addresses except those whitelisted, for 48 hours. If you actively trade keep only the amount of coins u need on the account.ĥ) Enable whitelisting on Coinbase. What you need to be 100% secure:ġ) Create and use unique e-mail for the coinbase account, with strong unique passwordĢ) A different unique strong password for Coinbase account.ģ) Use Google Authenticator on both the email and coinbase account.Ĥ) Buy and move your coins to a hardware wallet and read about security measures, use common sense to protect the seed word. All guys "hacked" were either phished, got credentials stolen by gf, friend etc and/or didn't use basic security precautions. If you take security seriously and use common sense you won't have any problem at all.
